The authors of a study published in The Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology investigated those with mild to moderate Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Fifty-seven people took part: 28 were supplemented with chamomile extract, and 29 received placebo. The treatment extended over an eight-week period.
At its conclusion the authors found, “The results suggest that Chamomile may have modest anxiolytic activity in patients with mild to moderate GAD.”
Given generalized anxiety disorder affects 3.1% of the American population, this is welcome news. But, its effects are wider than GAD alone. Chamomile may also soothe anxiousness in those with chronic physical health conditions.
Slows or prevents osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is incredibly common and potentially disabling. An estimated 200 million people suffer from this bone breaking condition. One in three women over the age of 50 years, and one in five men, will experience an osteoporotic fracture at some point in their lives.
